Longitudinal rolling is the most common rolling method in rolling. Cross rolling is a rolling method for rolling pieces that rotate around the center line between the rolls， and the  axis of the rolling piece is parallel to the axis of the rolls. The rolling piece is only subjected to pressure on the transverse side.

轧钢，就是在旋转的的轧辊间改变钢锭，钢坯的形状的压力加工过程。所谓轧钢工艺过程就是一系列轧钢工艺过程组合而成的加工流程。

Rolling is the process of changing the pressure of the ingot and the shape of the billet between the rotating rolls. The so-called steel rolling process is a process of combination of a series of steel rolling process.
