轧机在轧制过程中由轧制力所引起的内力沿机座各承载零件分布的应力曲线，称作应力线。为了提高轧机刚度，减少机架及各承载零件的变形，采取各种技术措施后，将这种应力线缩短了的轧机，称为短应力线轧机。它是高刚度轧机中的一种。

The stress curve of the rolling force, which is caused by the internal force of the rolling force, along the bearing parts of the frame, is called the stress line. In order to improve the rigidity of rolling mill and reduce the deformation of rack and bearing parts, after taking various technical measures, the mill which shortens the stress line is called short stress line mill. It is one of the high rigidity rolling mills.

在锻造和轧制生产中，钢坯一般在完全燃烧火焰的氧化气氛中加热。采用不完全燃烧的还原性火焰（即“自身保护气氛”）来直接加热金属，可以达到无氧化或少氧化的目的。这种加热方式称为明火式或敞焰式无氧化加热，成功地应用于转底式加热炉和室式加热炉。

In forging and rolling production, billets are usually heated in the combustion atmosphere of complete combustion flame. The direct combustion of metal can be achieved by the incomplete combustion of reduced flame (i.e., the "self protective atmosphere"), which can achieve the  of no oxidation or less oxidation. This heating method is called open flame or open flame oxidation free heating, which has been successfully applied to rotary hearth furnace and chamber heating furnace.

轧制时毛坯的位置固定，因此不需设置侧向支撑毛坯的导向尺。总之，它适用于轧制复杂外形结构，精度要求高，零件品种变换很多的情况。但其行程大小受到限制，所以，变形程度也受到影响，同时，板式轧机有空行程，故影响到生产率和变形程度都不能很大。

The of the blank is fixed during rolling, so there is no need to set the guide bar of the side supporting blank. In short, it is suitable for rolling complex shape structure with high accuracy and many varieties of parts. But the stroke size is limited, so the degree of deformation is also affected. At the same time, the plate mill has an empty travel, so the productivity and deformation can not be very large.
